After the plans approved by the government, AirAsia and its conglomerate Sime Darby, another low-cost carrier terminal will be build nearer to downtown Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. It is said as to meet the total increasing passenger capacity which is expected to rise about 30million passengers by 2014.

Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat also said that the soon-to-be expanded low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) will be build to ensure the comfortability of passengers to travel in both ways speedily and comfortably.

The new terminal, to be called ‘KLIA East @ Labu’, will be built on a 2,800 hectare site (6,919 acres) in the central state of Negri Sembilan under a private finance initiative, costing 1.6 billion ringgit (461 million dollars), the New Straits Times said.

The new LCCT will also be equipped with more road and rail links as it will be easier for people to access the new terminal and light to the time consumed.

With much to the benefit of the consumers, an AirAsia official told the paper that the carrier’s fares could be drop by as much as 15percent when the new terminal opens.

A groundbreaking ceremony was being planned for late January with construction expected to be completed in two years.

This is a good outturn as AirAsia has been lobbying the government to build a bigger LCCT to meet the consumers wants and better service of the number one low-cost carrier in Malaysia.

P/S: Kudos AirAsia! 15percent, who doesn’t want it? yeay! (^_^)
